Review: Beyond Coastal Sunscreen Products
In summertime, my family spends a lot of time outside — at the beach, hiking, biking, playing, gardening and so much more. We’re always soaking in the sun’s wonderful warmth, and enjoying all the fresh air. Our favorite days are the ones spend almost totally outside where we lay on the beach, grill, eat outside and grill. Of course, this means that sunscreen is an absolute must every day.
Typically, I start my day with a tinted moisturizer with SPF 20 or so on my face. But for my kids, I usually apply sunscreen when we’re on our way out the door or when we are arriving somewhere. So I value a few important key characteristics in any sunscreen we use: it must be effective; it must be okay for all of our sensitive skin; it must be fast and easy (sunscreens that take a lot of coaxing to get absorbed need not apply!) and it must be safe for my kids (read: natural!).
When I was recently asked to apply the Beyond Coastal line of sunscreen products, I was all in. The company (and their products) seems to fit my needs perfectly. Beyond Coastal is a supporter of the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics (yay!) and is a company that promises health skincare products that protect skin from the sun while also moisturizing and nourishing.
Trying the Products
I first tried the products on myself, seeing how they worked. One of the things I am always cautious of is checking to see if a product irritates my skin — fortunately, these did not. The Citrus Grove Lip Balm with SPF 15 spreads on in a pleasant not-too-thick layer that lasts for awhile and seems to leave lips feeling soft. And the Kids SPF 30 Natural Sunscreen smoothed on and rubbed in so easily. In terms of protection, these worked well.
Then I tried them on the kids, and again they worked well. Their skin was clearly protected as we spent hours outside hiking and letter boxing without a simple bit of redness on anyone (yay!).
One of my favorite products in the Beyond Coastal line is the Active FaceStick, an easy-to-apply sunscreen just for the last. It glides on from a deodorant-like container and stays put. This is the kind of thing that’s perfect to whip out when you’re kids are dashing off to play soccer or itching to get going with that family hike. Since the application process takes seconds, they can get going faster.
Will I Buy It?
Yes. Absolutely. I really liked these products and the safe ingredients made them a real winner for us. So, buying them is a definite yes.
