That Horrible Thing (And Why You Won’t Read About It Here)
A little over two weeks ago, something horrible happened and it directly impacted my family. Overwhelmed, I stepped away from blogging (although I did write about the tragedy). But I knew, when I was ready, I would be back here. This is a happy place for me.
I won’t be mentioning the horrible thing much here, if at all. While it factors into every moment of my life — and my family’s life — I have the power to keep this space free from the tears, anguish and hurt. Really, this just isn’t the place. Sarah by the Sea is a place to talk about dreams and joy and happiness. And I want it to stay that way — a bright spot focused on these hopeful things.
As I wrote in last week’s Chasing the Dream column, though it’s easy to get lost in the emotions that December 14 created for our community and the world. But if we look, there is so much wonder and beauty all around — even in the midst of tragedy. We can see it in the child’s joy as they play in the snow and hear it in the giggles over shared jokes. It’s in my children’s countdown till their return to school. It’s everywhere.
I have chosen to dwell in the light.
Sarah by the Sea is back, and it will enter 2013 filled with hope, joy and inspiration. Thanks for reading.
