Can I Read 52 Books in 2013?

Are you a big reader? I am. Given the time and the books, I could read many a week. Though as a busy mom and freelance writer, I don’t really have time for that. Still, I think reading is important to our minds and — specific to my career — our creativity. So I read as much as I can.
In 2012, I decided to try to read 52 books. I came really close (and I’ve heard that I should count it as a win since technically I did read more than 52 books). This year? I am at it again, and keeping track to see just how much I can read in a year. Will I make it to 52 this time? We’ll see!
- Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery — This is a childhood favorite that is as good for adults as it is for kids.
- Anne of Avonlea by Lucy Maud Montgomery – Another childhood favorite that is good for adults too.
- Heaven is for Real By Todd Burpo, Sonja Burpo, Colton Burpo – I never thought I would read this, but in the wake of what happened at my kids’ school, I felt drawn to it. And I am so glad I did. (Note: I received a free copy of this from a charitable organization that provides books to traumatized areas. All opinions are my own.)
- Touch & Go by Lisa Gardner – This is a thrilling crime novel set in New England. Good stuff. (Note: I received a digital advance copy from the publisher. All opinions are my own always.)
- Summerset Abbey by T.J. Brown – A Historical fiction novel set in Edwardian England. It appealed to my Downton Abbey-loving self. (Note: I received a digital advance copy from the publisher. All opinions are my own always.)
- The Best of Us by Sarah Pekkanen – College friends head off to paradise to celebrate a big birthday … and their secrets go with them. Loved this book — Review coming soon. (Note: I received a digital advance copy from the publisher. All opinions are my own always.)
- The Paradise Guest House by Ellen Sussman – A woman injured in a terrorist attack returns to Bali on the one year anniversary. This is a tale of loss, love and forgiveness. Review coming soon. (Note: I received a digital advance copy from the publisher. All opinions are my own always.)
- A Good American by Alex George – This book follows several generations of a family from the time they arrive in America to generations later. It’s a novel about family, love, talents, grief and a family finding its way in a new country.
- Let’s Pretend This Never Happened by Jenny Lawson – An off-the-wall memoir by the hilarious blogger behind The Bloggess. (Note: I received a digital advance copy from the publisher. All opinions are my own always.)
- Someday, Someday, Maybe by Lauren Graham – A novel about chasing those big dreams. A young woman who wants to be an actress goes for it with some flubs along the way. Review coming soon. (Note: I received a digital advance copy from the publisher. All opinions are my own always.)
- Starting Now by Debbie Macomber – Review coming soon. (Note: I received a digital advance copy from the publisher. All opinions are my own always.)
- The Good Life by Susan Kietzman – Review coming soon. (Note: I received a digital advance copy from the publisher. All opinions are my own always.)
- Table for Seven by Whitney Gaskell – Review coming soon. (Note: I received a digital advance copy from the publisher. All opinions are my own always.)
- What She Left Us by Stephanie Elliot

I love this idea! I want to join in (even though you didn’t issue this challenge to anyone, haha!) I think I’ll keep track on my blog of how many books I read this year. It will make me feel good to look back and respect my progress because sometimes I get bummed out thinking about how much reading I was able to do before I had kids!
YAY! I want to follow your progress too. Can’t wait to see what you read this year
