A Look at The Break in Narragansett, Rhode Island

Looking for a fun getaway this summer? A new boutique Rhode Island hotel with a surfer chic attitude is set to open in June 2014 in Narragansett, Rhode Island. This new hotel is perfect for New England travel.

Some days it feels like we’ve fallen into an endless winter where the super-low temperatures will never give way to the warmth and sunshine of summer. But of course, that’s not true. Still, while I am shivering at my desk, bundled in layer after layer, I can’t help but fantasize about the epic summer break I am planning that will take us from Connecticut to Maine and back again.

That’s made me pretty tuned into the hotel and restaurant scene in New England too. So when a press release about a soon-to-open boutique hotel in Narragansett, Rhode Island, happened into my inbox, I was intrigued. The Break boasts a cute retro surfer chic theme and is located in a beachside town with waves perfect for learning a little surfing. It’s the latest addition to The Lark‘s portfolio of boutique properties.

This is a Rhode Island hotel that’s just one block from the ocean and a short walk to the beach. You can take surfing and stand up paddle board lessons — don’t worry, the concierge will arrange them for you. Need to rent a board? No worries, you can … and there’s kayaks available for rent too. Fishing excursions and beach picnics round out the experience.

rarebrick_20140115_0870-300x199The hotel is decorated in a retro 1960s surfer theme with an appropriate color palate (think bright orange, crisp white, greens, blues … ) by local Rhode Island Designer Jocelyn Chiappone. And The Break will be outfitted with some seriously awesome room amenities — like king size beds, fireplaces and Apple TV.

A mere 15 minutes from Newport, there’s so much you can do while staying at The Break.

Of course, since I will be hitting the road with a car full of kids … this really isn’t the spot for us. Those 16 rooms in The Break are better suited for people looking for a more adult getaway. And while they’re there, they can take a dip in the heated outdoor pool or hot tub, drop by the spa and salon or even work it in the fitness center.

And the staff? They will be sporting vineyard vines®, natch.

Still, this new boutique Rhode Island hotel sounds pretty awesome … if you are looking for a getaway, that is.
